I’m getting through my first day of fasting. It’s hard to concentrate. Reading is difficult. I had to reread a page of a book.
I’m reading War of the Whales by Joshua Horwitz. It’s a true story about the Cuvier’s beaked whales washing up on the shores of Sandy Point, Abaco Island, Bahamas. It shows how small the American community of marine biologist is. Pretty much if you become a marine biologist you end up working for the U.S. Navy or a researcher who has to ask for grant money from the navy or a humble researcher passionate about surveying whales. A lot of people are involved, from a lawyer to the Office of Naval Research and other government agencies to scientists and nonprofits. The reason why the U.S. is involved is because U.S. Navy sonar is used. The navy denies any sonar at first, but the protagonist had been in the U.S. Navy studying the same topic. I haven’t finished the book but it’s good. Definitely a must read if you want to be a marine biologist or you’re a conservationist.
One thing I learned is that protesting works. Many times conservation groups have come together to protest the navy using dolphins, sea lions, and Orca. And how the navy and aquariums get the mammals is an upsetting story. But again the people protested. Also, persistence is key.
Today a story came out about the female U.S. gymnasts testifying. I had read about the sexual abuse in the USA Gymnastics back in 2015 and then it disappeared. The investigative reporter did a great write-up, but then crickets. In between that time, the former USA Gymnastics doctor, Larry Nassar, went to prison. And now in 2021 the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing about the mishandling of the case by the FBI. This isn’t just about the U.S. gymnastic organizations.
When I heard some of the testimony, the women were mentioning all these organizations USA Gymnastics, United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and SafeSport. It reminded me of all the departments and organizations involved when I read Solving 9-11 The Deception That Changed The World by Christopher Bollyn and now reading War of the Whales by Joshua Horwitz. Aly Raisman’s testimony tells how the organizations cover-up for each other.
Senator Grassley asked the women if they’d like to comment on SafeSport. Sen. Grassley defined SafeSport as, “The national non-profit entity that has been tasked by congress with handling allegations from amateur athletes.”
Aly Raisman gracefully said, “Uh yeah I personally think SafeSport is um . . . uh I’m trying to be respectful here. I don’t like SafeSport. I hear from many survivors that they report their abuse and it’s like playing hot potato where someone else kicks it over to somebody else and they don’t hear back for a very long time. I think a really big issue is that SafeSport is funded by USA Gymnastics or the United States Olympic Committee—I’m not sure exactly what the correct terminology is—but if you’re SafeSport and you are funded by the organization you’re investigating it’s not . . . They’re likely not going to do the right thing. And so I think it needs to be completely separate. And I personally think SafeSport needs a lot of work. And I know from many survivors and you know my mom has personally reported things to SafeSport. And it’s . . . we’ve followed up so many times. They say we can’t help you or they either ignore us or pass it on to somebody else. And the person they pass it on to says they kick it back to them. It’s just a complete mess. And the priority doesn’t seem to be safety and well-being of athletes. It seems to be protecting USA Gymnastics and doing everything to keep the PR good.”
It was known the doctor was abusing the athletes. And it was kept secret. That’s called collusion.
I hope the gymnasts’ story is a catalyst for how rampant the abuse is. Researching about 9-11 to stranded whales, you see how it’s a certain few who have control and access into every government and some non-government organizations and intentionally abuse their power. Read any of the books I’ve mentioned and you’ll see criminals walking free.
Anyway, with General Milley and Governor Gavin Newsom in the news I didn’t want the gymnasts’ story to disappear again.
And now I better drink some lemon water before a headache comes on. I’m hanging in there. I hope you are too. I have two more days of fasting. Join me fasting and in my protest for the truth to come out.
