Friends and family from up and down the state of California texting me photos—I can see we are all looking at a red sun and covered in ash. It’s so dark outside that I feel like it’s night time. Then I see the photos of the snow in Colorado after a hot day. With 911 coming up I’m going to post three times this week. Normally I post a vegan recipe on Friday, but I’m going to post a recipe Thursday so I can remember 911 on Friday. With all the out-of-the-ordinary events my schedule is off.
You might be wondering, “Why am I so tired?” All these events can get us off our focus. Staying on a schedule can help. Keep eating healthy no matter what. Juicing helps me. Here is a smoothie recipe that uses raw juice to get as many nutrients as possible.
My strawberry smoothie reminds me of a cross between a Big Stick Popsicle and Starburst candy. There isn’t any pineapple in it so I’ll name it after the Starburst candy. I think it’s the lemon that enhances the sweetness and gives it that artificial taste I find in processed sugary food.
Strawberry Starburst Smoothie Recipe
8-oz. Raw Juice:
1 nectarine
1 apple
1 lemon
Smoothie:
raw juice
banana
12 frozen strawberries
Yield: 16-ounces
Directions:
I use an Omega MMV700 juicer. Chop up nectarine, apple, and lemon. Remove apple seeds. Keep half of the lemon rind. Juice fruit then put juice in blender. Add a banana and frozen strawberries. Blend. Enjoy.
Happy Juicing!
